Twin City Nissan

When a car dealership approaches a landscape architect, and it isn’t to suggest the latest new car model with all leather trim, something unique is happening.  Most people are accustomed to concrete as king in a typical auto dealership.  Yet Twin City Nissan approached Hedstrom Design to design a garden/outdoor lounge space in what was a bleak concrete corner on the south facing side of their building. The goal was to create an aesthetically pleasing and welcoming area for potential buyers and clients waiting in their service area.

Symmetry and crisp geometric lines were used to achieve this goal and present a clean professional appearance.  A hedge of Arborvitae creates an axial interruption to the modern walls of the dealership.  The lower bordering hedge allows for views into and out of the garden from any of the seats at the moveable tables.  Hedges grown slightly taller at the entrance create a subtle welcoming gateway. Contrasting textures in both the greenery and the masonry soften the geometry and pique visual interest. Limestone fines for a gentle surface under foot and plantings offering seasonal colors all serve to embrace the patron in this corner piece of what is sure to be known as car buyer’s Eden.

Hedstrom Design received an Honor Award from the American Society of Landscape Architects Tennessee Chapter for the Twin City Courtyard
